The Manchineel Tree is a species of flowering plant in the spurge family and the leaves and fruit resemble an apple tree. The tree has milky white latex sap and is known to be one of the most toxic trees in the world.

Is Manchineel Tree item toxic?

Yes. Hippomane mancinella is extremely toxic; sap and rain runoff from the tree can blister skin, and ingestion causes severe mouth and throat burns, vomiting, and life-threatening internal injury for mammals including rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas.

Should I feed my pet Manchineel Tree?

No. Do not feed any part of the manchineel tree or let pets shelter under it where sap or wet leaves could contact skin or fur.

How much can I feed them?

Do not offer as food. Any suspected contact or ingestion is an emergency—seek human medical care for skin or eye exposure and veterinary care for pets.
