Carpet may be soft and fluffy like your bunny, and a fun place to play with your small pet. However, they may be attracted to scratch and chew on carpet, which not only is this not safe for your pet, it can destroy your carpet.

Yes. Carpet is not food. Synthetic fibers, dyes, adhesives, and flame retardants can harm rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. Ingested clumps can also obstruct the gut.

Should I feed my pet Carpet?

No. Do not let rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas chew or eat carpet.

How much can I feed them?

Do not offer as food. If your pet swallowed carpet fibers or backing, contact your veterinarian—especially if appetite or droppings change.
