Chicken Feed and rabbit stomachs do not belong together—never feed.

Chicken Feed

Gallus gallus domesticus (formulated ration)

No—chicken feed is not rabbit food. Rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas need hay-first fiber, not poultry pellets packed for egg layers and growing chicks. Keep the coop bag and scratch grain out of the pen—sharing a yard with chickens does not mean sharing their dinner menu.

Guideline: Never Feed

Type: Miscellaneous

Other Names: Poultry feed, chicken pellets, layer feed, chick starter, scratch grain, chicken mash, broiler feed

Not a classic plant poison, but chicken feed is unsafe for rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. Do not offer pellets, crumbles, or spilled coop grain.

Should I feed my pet Chicken Feed?

No. Do not feed chicken feed to rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas.

How much can I feed them?

Do not offer chicken feed. If your pet ate some, watch droppings and appetite and call your veterinarian if soft stool, bloating, or reduced appetite persists.
