Is Chocolate item toxic?

Yes, chocolate is highly toxic to rabbits, chinchillas, and guinea pigs because they cannot break down the theobromine or caffeine in their bodies. If your pet eats chocolate, symptoms can include diarrhea, vomiting, tiredness, and loss of appetite. Because it's so difficult for them to process, in serious cases, eating chocolate can lead to death.

Should I feed my pet Chocolate?

No. Do not feed chocolate, cocoa powder, or chocolate-flavored treats to rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas.

How much can I feed them?

Do not offer as food. If your pet ate chocolate, contact your veterinarian or a pet poison hotline immediately.
