Coming from tree's dates are harvested and can be three types of dates. A soft date, simi-dry date, or a dry date. When ripe you will find them either being bright red or yellow depending on the type.

Dates are not a classic toxin like some plants, but they are extremely high in sugar and dense calories for rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas—feeding them risks obesity, GI upset, and dental issues.

Should I feed my pet Dates?

No. Do not feed dates to rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas.

How much can I feed them?

Do not offer dates or other dried sugary fruits. If your pet ate dates, watch for soft stool and contact your veterinarian if they seem unwell.
