Dogbane, Indian Hemp, and others of the Apocynum cannabinum family can grow up to 6 1/2 ft. tall with reddish stem that contain a white latex sap and clusters of small white or pink flowers. The leaves are long and green, smooth around the edges, and have tiny white hairs underneath.

Is Dogbane item toxic?

Yes. Dogbane is toxic to rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. Sap can irritate skin, and eating any part can cause severe mouth pain, choking signs, and dangerous heart effects. Do not offer leaves, stems, or flowers.

Should I feed my pet Dogbane?

No. Do not feed dogbane to rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas.

How much can I feed them?

Do not offer as food. If your pet ate dogbane or got sap on skin, contact your veterinarian or a pet poison hotline right away.
