Irises are flowering plants with showy flowers. This popular garden flower has bulbous roots, sword shaped leaves, and flowers on tall, erect stems. Colors may vary from purple to blue, red, yellow, orange, black, and white, however purple and blue are the most common colors found.

Yes. Iris rhizomes, leaves, and flowers contain irisin and related compounds that can harm rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas, causing drooling, diarrhea, lethargy, and abdominal pain.

Should I feed my pet Iris?

No. Do not feed iris flowers, leaves, or rhizomes to rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas.

How much can I feed them?
