Jicama root: unsafe for rabbits, guinea pigs.

Jicama

Pachyrhizus erosus

Guideline: Never Feed

Type: Fruits

This fruit is native to Mexico and has a brown/tan skin. The fruit has a spade shape, and the plant will produce small flowers that are either blue or white

For Your Pet: Although the root portion is edible to humans, Jicama skin, stems, leaves, and seeds are toxic to rabbits and other small animals. Jicama plants contain rotenone, a chemical used as a natural insecticide and pesticide. Unfortunately, if ingested, this plant can cause serious harmful issues. Rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas are also unable to digest the root portion of Jicama so it is best to keep them away from it altogether.

Warning: Do not feed your pet Jicama as it can cause serious illness.
