Mushrooms are a fleshy fungus that usually have a stem, cap (umbrella part of the mushroom), and gills (the ridged underside of the cap) that produce spores. Mushrooms come is many varieties, many are edible to humans, others are extremely lethal.

Treat mushrooms as unsafe for rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. Many species contain toxins; store-bought kinds are still a digestion gamble and not worth the risk.

Should I feed my pet Mushrooms?

No. Do not feed wild or grocery mushrooms to rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas.

How much can I feed them?

Do not offer mushrooms. If your pet ate any mushroom, contact your veterinarian or a pet poison hotline with a photo or sample if possible.
