Often yes for pet-relevant parts. Many Solanaceae plants are risky for rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas—especially green potato parts, tomato leaves and vines, and unripe or green peppers. Risk varies by species and plant part, so treat unknown nightshades as unsafe until a veterinarian confirms otherwise.

Should I feed my pet Nightshade Plants?

Default to no for garden nightshade crops and ornamental relatives. Do not experiment with leaves, stems, or green fruit for rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas without species-specific veterinary guidance.
