Often Mistaken For

Is Pumpkin item toxic?

Plain raw pumpkin flesh is not toxic, but seeds and rind are hard to digest. Too much sweet squash can loosen stool and must not replace unlimited hay.

Should I feed my pet Pumpkin?

Yes—in small limited portions for rabbits and guinea pigs when stools stay normal. Ask your veterinarian before offering squash to chinchillas.

How much can I feed them?

Offer a thumb-sized piece of plain raw pumpkin flesh a few times per week, not daily large servings. Remove seeds and rind; skip pie filling and seasoned dishes.
