Table salt is not a "classic plant toxin," but it still does not belong in a rabbit's bowl. Extra sodium can throw off hydration and electrolyte balance on top of what they already get from hay and an appropriate pellet. Skip salt licks, salty snacks, and human foods seasoned for our palates.

Concentrated salt can cause dehydration-electrolyte crises in rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. They meet sodium needs from hay and balanced pellets—do not add salt licks or salty snacks.

How much can I feed them?
