Spring Mix and rabbit stomachs do not belong together—never feed.

Spring Mix

Mixed salad greens (Lactuca, Spinacia, and related spp.)

No—do not feed bagged spring mix to rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas. Store blends change by brand and often include spinach or pale, watery lettuces that are a poor fit on this guide. Wash and portion greens you can name yourself—such as limited daily romaine—and keep unlimited grass hay as the main meal.

Guideline: Never Feed

Type: Vegetables

Other Names: Spring mix salad, mixed salad greens, baby greens mix, mesclun mix

Spring mix is a bagged blend of young salad greens. Typical bags mix baby lettuces with spinach, and sometimes arugula, radicchio, chard, or other tender leaves. Ingredients change by brand and season.

Often Mistaken For

Is Spring Mix item toxic?

Bagged spring mix is not one plant—it is a changing blend. Many bags include spinach, which we list as unsafe for rabbits because of oxalates, and pale lettuces that offer little nutrition and can loosen stool. Safer bias means skipping the convenience bag and feeding only greens you can name and portion yourself.

Should I feed my pet Spring Mix?

No. Do not feed bagged spring mix to rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas.

How much can I feed them?

Do not offer the bag as food. Choose known-safe greens such as romaine in limited daily amounts, and keep unlimited grass hay as the main diet.
