Nicotiana, more commonly known as tobacco plants, is a genus of herbaceous plants and shrubs native to to many places throughout the world including North America, South America, Africa, Australia, and more. These are used for several different things including producing tobacco cigars, cigarettes, and other tobacco products. These plants have large green leaves and five petaled flowers ranging in colors from white to pink, purple, and red.

Is Tobacco item toxic?

Yes. Tobacco plants contain nicotine and related alkaloids that can poison rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas, causing tremors, rapid heart rate, respiratory depression, and death.

Should I feed my pet Tobacco?

No. Do not feed tobacco leaves or flowers to rabbits, guinea pigs, or chinchillas.

How much can I feed them?

Do not offer as food or bedding forage. If your pet ate tobacco plant material, contact your veterinarian or a pet poison hotline immediately.
