  • Dried major plantain — Single-ingredient leafy topper for sprinkle-on forage.
  • Forage garnish — Adds scent, texture, and foraging interest over everyday hay.
  • Not a medication — Herb topper only—does not treat digestion or respiratory problems.
  • 100 g and 400 g — Choose a trial pouch or a larger refill size.
  • Bunny Bum — Third-party resale through Rabbit Hole Hay.
The Bunny Bum Major Plantain is a dried major plantain (Plantago major) leaf topper from Bunny Bum for rabbits and guinea pigs who already eat unlimited hay. Sprinkle a small pinch over hay or greens when you want a leafy forage garnish with a mild green scent.
This is an herbal garnish, not a medication and not a meal. Do not increase the amount hoping for stronger digestive or respiratory effects—more herb is not more medicine. We sell it as third-party resale from Bunny Bum with Rabbit Hole Hay checkout and support.
Start with a few pinches for several days and watch appetite and droppings. Pause and talk with your exotics vet if stool softens, hay gets ignored, or your pet seems unwell. Some rabbits simply dislike leafy toppers—that is normal preference.

Most orders are shipped from our Warehouse the Next Business Day. In an effort to ensure your product comes as quickly as possible, your product may arrive in a brown box rather than the colored box shown in the image.

Storage & Freshness

The Bunny Bum Major Plantain is a dried major plantain (Plantago major) leaf topper from Bunny Bum. We offer it as third-party resale for owners who want a ready-to-sprinkle leafy forage without sourcing bulk botanicals.

It is intended for rabbits and guinea pigs. Other small herbivores may tolerate major plantain—confirm species safety with an exotics vet before offering a new herb. It is not formulated for reptiles or other non-herbivore pets.

The listing includes two sizes: 100 g (SKU BUM-MAJPLA-100G) and 400 g (SKU BUM-MAJPLA-400G). For ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata), see The Bunny Bum Ribwort Plantain.

Treat major plantain as a garnish, not a staple or a drug. Grass hay should still make up the bulk of a rabbit or guinea pig diet.

This product is not a digestive supplement, respiratory medicine, or gut-health drug. Store tags may mention Digestion & Gut Health for browsing—those labels do not make this a medicine. If your pet needs clinical care, call your exotics vet.

Some pets may refuse the leafy taste or scent—that is normal preference, not a product defect. Discontinue use and contact your vet if you see appetite loss, diarrhea, or behavior changes after introducing the herb.

Sprinkle a pinch to ½ teaspoon on hay or greens once daily for an average healthy adult rabbit. Guinea pigs can receive a smaller pinch.

Mix a tiny amount into hay for the first 3–5 days before using the full suggested serving. Increase only if droppings stay normal—never pile on more leaf for a stronger effect.

Store sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. An airtight jar works well after opening the pouch.

Leaf color and piece size can vary batch to batch—that is normal for dried botanicals. Discard if you notice mold, musty odor, or pests.

Plantain Major = Happy Bun Tum

I've always given broadleaf plantain (plantain major) to my buns when they get an upset tummy (i.e. if they are on antibiotics, or they ate something they shouldn't have) or to help them recover from bouts of stasis. It's a great plant that helps their little tummy so much! And they absolutely love the taste. I'm glad you have started carrying this! Thank you! Photo of my disabled bun, Nimbus, because he's a picky eater (who happens to be on long-term antibiotics) who loves to eat this every day!

So glad to hear Nimbus is enjoying the plantain major and it's helping with his tummy troubles! It’s wonderful that he loves the taste, especially being a picky eater on long-term antibiotics. We're thrilled to be a part of their daily routine. Thanks for sharing this positive experience with us, and give Nimbus a gentle pet from us!

Spoiled bunny doesn't like it.

It smells wonderful and I would like it. Unfortunately my little spoiled bunny will not eat it. I wonder if humans can eat it. It is good stuff. maybe she will eat it later or something.

Thanks for the feedback, Cheryl! It's great to hear that you think the plantain smells wonderful—even if your little bunny isn't convinced yet. Sometimes our furry friends can be a bit particular with their snacks. Give it some time, and she might just come around! Thanks again for sharing your experience! ❤️
