Ultra Premium Oat Hay

Only 1 Ingredient: Pure Oat Hay
Our Oat Hay contains mostly stems, long seed heads, and leaves. This grade of hay comes from the first harvest of Oat Hay. The key to this grade of premium hay is that it’s made up entirely of coarse stems and leaves. Near the end of the growing season the plant begins pumping sugars up into the seed heads to help them finish maturing. This causes our hay to taste great despite having more yellow than other grass hays.

  • We visually inspect and hand-pack every package of hay to ensure that you get fresh, green, fragrant hay of the highest quality.
  • Your hay is always hand-processed, never machine-cut, creating nice long strands and less small pieces.
  • You’ll no longer have to worry about your small pet suffering from irritated eyes or sneezing from excessive dust.
  • We preserve freshness by bagging all of our hay. This helps keep it from drying out or absorbing unwanted odors.

Why Hay Is Essential To A Small Pet Diet

Grass Hay is an important staple in the diet of rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas.

  • For rabbits 7 months and older and guinea pigs 6 months and older, grass hay should make up 80% of their diet.
  • For chinchillas older than a year, grass hay should make up 75% of their diet.

The constant foraging and grazing encouraged by hay helps to keep them physically active and mentally stimulated. It also helps to wear down their teeth while the long strand fiber helps to keep their digestion regular and functioning properly.

Annual Harvest Report & Fresh From The Hopper - How's The Hay Looking?

Small Pet's Guide to Hay Quality

Our Harvest Reports update yearly, and are a first glance and analysis of the newly harvested hay. This is what we are hoping (and anticipating) the rest of the year's hay will look like. Yet, nature's quirks make hay-growing and harvesting unique and can lead to a bit of unpredictability with every new batch of hay we receive. As new hay batches from this harvest comes in, typically every 4 to 6 weeks, we'll update you on any changes through our Fresh From The Hopper.

Great quality

My rabbits love this hay. It’s the only hay they will eat and will turn their noses up if I serve them anything else. We get the Oat Hay.

Sample Size is Perfect for Testing

The sample was a little on the dusty side, but the oat hay pieces in it were good looking and it was enough to check and see if my picky bunnies liked it. Not a lot of seed heads, but it was just a little bit.

Thank you for your feedback! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with our oat hay sample. We're glad to hear that the hay pieces were good looking and that it was enough for you to test it with your picky bunnies. We apologize for any dustiness you encountered, and we'll definitely take note of that to improve our product. As for the seed heads, we understand that there were just a few. If you ever need assistance or have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at (530) 763-6900 or support@rabbitholehay.com. We're here to help!

9 Piggies are sort of fans

Oat hay is great atleast to me but Since it is more brittle and longer cut it can get dusty. My pigs will eat the green and seed heads but the golden pieces they won't touch. That doesn't speak for all pigs! It would be great for their teeth if they did eat it. If you have a pocket pet that enjoys the rougher stuff then yes I would recommend.
