We realized that doing an annual harvest report on only the first batch of hay from that season’s harvest was more of an initial analysis. It was great at giving us an early glimpse into the anticipated quality for the year, but not a guarantee of what each batch would be.
It was with that in mind that we wanted to provide you with a more realistic description of what the hay looks and feels like as each new batch arrives from the farm. Ensuring you have the most accurate information available when you place your order and allowing you to make informed choices with confidence!

This new batch of 2025 harvest is a medium green color, heavy on the thinner but coarse stems, and some leaf content. The stems are long, averaging 6-78-10” in length.
Some seed heads are also found, averaging 3-4” in length. There is someminimal leafd crush, no weeds so far, and some minimal brown leaf and dust!

Description:
This batch of Oat Hay is not pure Oat Hay. While this batch does have more Oat Hay content, there is still a blend of Alfalfa Hay and may contain some weeds.
This batch contains long stems that are a mixture of golden yellow and green in color. There is a bit less leaf content than previous batches, but seed heads are present.
Note: Some Chenopodium Album (also known as Goosefoot or Lamb’s Quarter) is found within this batch. This is a harmless weed that many wild and domestic rabbits like to snack on! It’s closely related to quinoa and is edible and completely safe to feed your rabbit and other small pets. Even humans can eat this!
